Here at The Shift, we’re always listening to and talking about new music. If it isn’t Slack arguments about your favourite rapper, then it’s probably us trying to put each other on to our latest discovery that we just can’t stop listening to. Of course, we’re all about finding things in our culture at large that are worth celebrating, and also, we just love to make playlists. We all also think that we have great taste in music, but really, who doesn’t?

This week, we’re listening to Kardinal Offishall, Lorde, Bad Bunny and more.

Bad Bunny — “Yonaguni”

“Yonaguni” is Bad Bunny’s first single since his last album El Último Tour del Mundo. This chill, reggaeton-infused song is named after the Japanese island, and the Puerto Rican singer sings in Spanish as well as Japanese. — Anna Akoto

 

Lorde - “Solar Power”

Nature is healing. The sun’s out. Businesses are reopening. Lorde is dropping new music again, and it’s the perfect soundtrack for seeing your friends again. Anyone else feel like catching a vibe this summer? — Kevin Yeung

Hiatus Kaiyote is known for their lyrics and intricate instrumentation, and “Chivalry is Not Dead” does not disappoint. Lead singer Nai Palm showcases her pen and sings about how she would show affection to a lover if she were various animals and insects. — A.A.
