On Monday, Vogue Japan announced that Naomi Osaka is on the cover of their August 2021 “Here I Am” issue.

Osaka, who became an ambassador for Louis Vuitton in January, wears items from the brand in her cover shoot with Vogue, and joined the magazine on an upcoming profile about her activism outside of sports. Osaka has been vocal in her support of social justice movements such as Black Lives Matter and Stop Asian Hate.

Currently ranked at No. 2 in the world, Osaka withdrew from the French Open as well as the upcoming Wimbledon tournament, citing the protection of her mental health. She spoke about anxiety resulting from media interviews and was fined $15,000 by Roland Garros organizers for skipping a press conference before making the decision to withdraw.

Osaka still plans to compete for Japan at the Tokyo Olympics beginning July 23. She also appeared on the cover of the American edition of Vogue for their January issue earlier this year.
