Goaltender Matt Murray was on the ice for practice with the Senators Wednesday morning, his first skate since being placed on injured reserve over the weekend.

Murray sustained a head/neck injury in Saturday's game against the New York Rangers, though head coach DJ Smith said earlier this week the injury wasn't as bad as first believed.

Smith said Wednesday Murray will join the Senators on their three-game road trip and could play at some point.

Acquired Sunday from the San Jose Sharks, centre Dylan Gambrell joined the Senators on ice for the first time Wednesday.

He skated on the team's fourth line with Zach Sanford and Austin Watson.

Columbus Blue Jackets

Columbus Blue Jackets head coach gave an update on Max Domi's injury but there is no indication on when he will return to the lineup.

Domi was expected to miss two to four weeks after fracturing a rib on October 16th against the Seattle Kraken.

Adam Boqvist is considered to be day-to-day but the exact injury was not disclosed.

Pittsburgh Penguins

Pittsburgh Penguins centre Sidney Crosby participated in full practice on Wednesday and is considered to be day-to-day according to head coach Mike Sullivan.

Crosby had surgery on his wrist and was given a six-week timeline for his return to action.

The 34-year-old had 24 goals and 62 points in 55 games last season.

Tampa Bay Lightning

Tampa Bay Lightning foward Nikita Kucherov underwent successful surgery for a lower body injury the team announced on Wednesday and is expected to be out eight-to-10 weeks.

The 28-year-old has been out since suffering the injury after a minor collision with Garnet Hathaway of the Washington Capitals during a game on Oct. 16.

Kucherov missed the entirety of the 2020-21 season after having hip surgery in December but returned for the start of the 2021 NHL Playoffs where he had eight goals and 32 points on the way to winning the Stanley Cup.
