Despite not hitting the basketball court for the entirety of the 2021-2022 NBA season, the talent of former first overall pick Zion Williamson is undeniable. As the New Orleans Pelicans power forward prepares his body for the upcoming campaign, he has finally unveiled the second iteration of his signature shoe line with Jordan Brand.

The Jordan Zion 2 “Voodoo” and “Hope Diamond” colourways are set to both release this month. The sneaker itself is designed to be lightweight and comfortable under the extreme duress of the fast pace of the NBA. Per Nike’s press release unveiling the shoe, its design is segmented into three key areas: the heel for impact resistance, the middle for resilience and containment, and the toes for comfort and mobility. The kicks are also fitted with special text reading the mantra, “Nobody built like you, you design yourself,” alongside Williamson’s signature logo.

As for the colourways, the “Voodoo” iteration features grey and green panels along the mesh underlays. Skull-like faces with button eyes are featured on the back while the Zion logo is pasted on the tongues, likely paying homage to the superstition-based concept of New Orleans Voodoo, an African diasporic religion originating in Louisiana.

The “Hope Diamond” colourway was previously teased in March, alongside a video of Zion dunking in the gym with the new sneaker. This pair comes in white along with a multicoloured, psychedelic-pattern design around the tongue, ankle and heel areas. They feature Nike’s Zoom Aire foot straps to bring out a 90s-esque look to the shoe. Williamson’s signature logo and initials are featured front and centre on the tongue and toe of the outsole.

The first two colourways for the Jordan Zion 2 are set to release separately in June; the “Voodoo” pair drops first on June 22, followed by the “Hope Diamond” pair on June 30, both at the Nike webstore and SNKRS app.
