Canada's Henderson shoots 3-under in rainy second round of CP Women's Open

Canadian Brooke Henderson shot 3-under to earn her a tie for 13th place at 5-under after two rounds of play at the CP Women's Open from Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club on Friday to trail leader Narin An by eight strokes (13-under). 

Henderson was interrupted by horns early into her round, signaling a rain delay was imminent amid a birdie put on the second hole. Sinking the putt, she went to the clubhouse 1-under to start the day. 

Following an hour-long delay, Henderson and the rest of the players were allowed back on the course to resume play. 

Showing no signs that the delay would hinder her performance, the Smiths Falls, Ont., native scored three consecutive pars before her second birdie on the front 9 at hole 6. A lone bogey dropped her to 1-over on the round, though she quickly improved back to 2-under on hole 9, shooting 34 through nine holes of play. 

Much like the weather, Henderson began to heat up on the back nine. 

She began by shooting par on hole 10 before birdies at 11 and 13 brought her six shots behind the leader at 6-under. 

Henderson went the remainder of the round par-heavy aside from a three-put bogey on 18 to get to her final score of 3-under on the round and 5-under on the tournament 

Fellow Canadian Lorie Kane, who was playing in her 30th-career CP Women's Open, received thunderous applause from the gallery when she finished at 18 in her final appearance.  

Henderson won the CP Women's Open in 2018 and most recently captured her second career major title earlier this season at the Evian Championship in late July.
