The wait could finally be over for Michael Sam.

Didier Ormejuste reports the defensive end, and first openly gay player to be drafted in the NFL, will likely make his CFL debut on Wendy's Friday Night Football on TSN against the Ottawa Redblacks.

Sam has been on the Alouettes' game day roster the entire season - a stipulation of his contract - and is still listed as a backup behind defensive end John Bowman.

The 25-year-old signed a two-year deal with Montreal this off-season after getting cut from the Dallas Cowboys' practice roster last season. Prior to that, Sam spent time in St. Louis Rams' training camp after being drafted by the team in the seventh round.
