Contrary to an earlier report that suggested a deal was near, the Montreal Alouettes say have not been in contact nor signed former Indianapolis Colts receiver Austin Collie.

Alouettes general manager Jim Popp confirmed to TSN that no deal is in place.

Collie himself tweeted from his verified account, saying, "Don't believe wht u hear. The report of me plying for Montreal is completely false."

Collie spent five seasons in the NFL after being drafted in the fourth round of 2009 draft by the Colts.

The 29-year-old caught 172 passes for 1,845 yards in four seasons with the Colts. He spent the 2013 season with the New England Patriots, making six receptions for 63 yards. Collie did not play in 2014.

The Hamilton native missed 22 games in his NFL career due to four concussions and a ruptured right patellar tendon.
