Carmelo Anthony has finalized his buyout with the Atlanta Hawks and will give back $2.4 million of his $27.9 million salary, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Hawks placed the veteran on waivers later on Monday.

Anthony, who was acquired earlier this month in a trade that saw Dennis Schroder go to the Oklahoma City Thunder, will be placed on waivers and is expected to sign with the Houston Rockets.

The 34-year-old Anthony averaged a career-low 16.2 points per game last season on 40.4 per cent from the field. He arrived in Oklahoma City last summer in a trade with the New York Knicks in exchange for centre Enes Kanter and forward Doug McDermott
