The Toronto Maple Leafs appear set to have new number in their lineup on Thursday night against the Florida Panthers.

Casey Bailey, who signed a two-year entry-level deal with the Leafs on Saturday, is likely to make his NHL debut against the Panthers.

According to TSN’s Jonas Siegel, it sounds likely the 23-year-old will dress, though no official indication has been made.

Bailey skated with the Leafs for the first time on Wednesday, wearing No. 37.

Bailey could slot in the lineup in place of either Zach Sill or Trevor Smith, who both missed practice on Wednesday.

The Penn State standout said a 30 minute phone conversation with Maple Leafs president Brendan Shannahan helped lure him to Toronto.

Bailey said he will be taking his opportunity in the Leafs’ final eight games as a learning experience.

"I'm here to learn from these guys and see what I have to do this summer to hopefully make this team next year," Bailey said.
