BELLEVILLE, Ont. — Rudolfs Balcers and Adam Tambellini scored in the shootout as the Belleville Senators edged the Utica Comets 5-4 on Wednesday in American Hockey League action.

Jonathan Racine opened scoring for Belleville (7-8-0), the AHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators, in the first period. Filip Chlapik, Jack Rodewald and Paul Carey all scored in the second period to take a 4-3 lead into the second intermission.

Tanner Kero's second goal of the night tied it 4-4 for Utica (6-8-2), the minor league club for the Vancouver Canucks. Michael Carcone and Zack MacEwen also scored, with all four of the Comets goals coming on power plays.

Filip Gustavsson made 32 saves and stopped two skaters in the shootout for the win. Ivan Kulbakov stopped 27 shots for Utica.

Belleville could not score on its one power play and the Comets were 4 for 9 with the man advantage.
