Florida Panthers centre Aleksander Barkov left the team's 3-2 season-saving win over the Boston Bruins Thursday late with an injury.

Barkov was hit into the boards by Bruins' X Colby Cave in the third period Thursday. He skated slowly to the bench before eventually walking to the team's dressing room.

Panthers head coach Bob Boughner said after the game he didn't have an update on his star forward, but that it did not look good when he left the ice, according to the Sun-Sentinel's Matthew DeFranks.

Barkov has been the Panthers' best skater this season and has had his name mentioned in the Hart Trophy conversation. The 22-year-old scored the Panthers' first goal of the game Thursday, his 27th of the season to go along with 51 assists.

The Panthers are four points behind the Philadelphia Flyers for the sole remaining playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. They need to win their remaining two games and have the Flyers lose to the New York Rangers in regulation in their final game to make the playoffs.
