CHICAGO - The Chicago Bears have placed defensive end Willie Young on injured reserve because of a torn left Achilles tendon and signed defensive end Austen Lane.

Young, who had a career-high 10 sacks in his first season with the Bears, was injured in Sunday's loss to Detroit.

Lane has appeared in 30 games with 17 starts over four seasons with Jacksonville (2010-12) and Detroit (2013), collecting 64 tackles and three sacks. He signed with the Bears in the off-season but was released at the end of the preseason.

The Bears announced the moves on Tuesday. Chicago (5-10) finishes the season at Minnesota this week.
