The Chicago Bears will release backup quarterback Mike Glennon once the new league year starts on March 14, GM Ryan Pace said.

The Bears signed Glennon to a three-year, $45 million deal last off-season in a move met with surprise around the league at the time, and especially so when the team selected Mitch Trubiskey second overall in the draft.

The 28-year-old Glennon will have earned $18.5 million from the Bears for four starts, 833 passing yards, and four touchdowns to five interceptions.

For his career, Glennon has a 60.6 per cent completion rate, 4,933 passing yards and 34 touchdowns to 20 interceptions in 25 games (22 starts) over four seasons split between the Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
