Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones said Friday the Cincinnati Bengals will not pick up his option for next season.

The door hasn’t been closed on Jones’ return to the Bengals, however, with Jones going so far as telling the team’s website that he would “love to come back.”

The 34-year-old veteran cornerback would have counted $6.9 million against the cap, and the team would reportedly be open to Jones returning with a smaller salary.

Jones has been with the Bengals the past eight seasons after starting his career with the Tennessee Titans and spending one season with the Dallas Cowboys. He played in just nine games last year with injuries and a one-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy cost him seven games. Jones finished with 23 tackles and four pass defences.

The sixth-overall pick in the 2005 Draft, Jones has 499 tackles, 16 interceptions, and 93 pass defences.
