ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. - The Buffalo Bills have placed starting cornerback Stephon Gilmore on season-ending injured reserve because of a dislocated shoulder.

The move announced Wednesday did not come as a surprise with Gilmore expected to miss a few more weeks and the Bills (6-7) all but mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. Gilmore was hurt while tackling Houston running back Akeem Hunt in Buffalo's 30-21 win on Dec. 6.

Buffalo filled Gilmore's spot on the roster by signing defensive end Max Valles off the Oakland Raiders practice squad. He's a rookie sixth-round draft pick out of Virginia.

Starting defensive end Mario Williams missed practice Wednesday due to an illness, and his status is uncertain for Buffalo's game at Washington on Sunday.
