ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills began addressing their needs at receiver by signing free agent Jeremy Kerley to a one-year contract as part of a series of moves in opening their off-season conditioning program.

Kerley has seven seasons of NFL experience, which include two separate stints with the New York Jets. Overall, he has 268 catches for 3,109 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Kerley will have an opportunity to contend for a backup spot behind Kelvin Benjamin and Zay Jones.

Buffalo also signed defensive tackle Tenny Palepoi. He has appeared in 44 games, all as a backup, over three NFL seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Bills on Monday also announced re-signing four exclusive rights free agents, including defensive end Eddie Yarbrough, who started six games last year. Also re-signed were cornerback Lafayette Pitts and tight ends Nick O'Leary and Logan Thomas.

In a separate development, the agent of former Buffalo running back Fred Jackson announced his client will sign a one-day contract Wednesday to formally retire as a member of the Bills.

Jackson has been out of football since spending the 2015 season with Seattle. The 37-year-old was a fan-favourite during his first eight seasons in Buffalo after making the team as an undrafted free agent in 2007. Jackson finished with 5,746 career-yards rushing and 39 touchdowns, including nine receiving.
