The Toronto Blue Jays announced a series of roster moves Saturday morning, calling up right-hander Chris Rowley and transferring reliever Rhiner Cruz (groin) to the 60-day disabled list.

Lefty Ryan Borucki was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo since he was not scheduled to pitch again until after the All-Star Break according to Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com. He does project to be back in the rotation when the team returns after their layoff. According to TSN's Scott Mitchell, Borucki won't pitch in the minors, just throw side sessions until his next start. Despite a rough out Friday night against the Red Sox, his ERA sits a 3.52 in four starts.

Meanwhile, left-hander Jaime Garcia was back with the club Saturday but was not activated. He is expected to slide into a relief role once the Blue Jays return from the break, reports Chisholm.

Garcia has struggled over 13 starts this season, pitching to a record of 2-6 and an ERA of 6.16.

The Blue Jays enter play Saturday 43-50, good for fourth in the American League East.
