John Bowman is returning to the Montreal Alouettes for another season.

The Alouettes announced Monday the team's all-time leader in sacks will be back for 2018.

The 35-year-old finished with 35 tackles and nine sacks in 18 games for the Alouettes last year. That brought his career total in sacks to 121, eighth all-time in the CFL.

"We are happy to have John return to the field with us in 2018. Throughout his career, he has been a true leader on the field and in the locker room," Alouettes GM Kavis Reed said in a team release. "We look forward to John being a leader on our defensive squad and know that the players will look up to him. John is a true Montrealer and we are thrilled that he will have an opportunity to continue playing in front of the best fans in the CFL."

Bowman has played 12 seasons in the CFL, all with the Alouettes, and has missed only 13 games over that span.
