(SportsNetwork.com) - Yovani Gallardo has pitched shut down baseball over his last three appearances. The right-hander aims to continue the streak tonight when he takes the mound for the Milwaukee Brewers against the Washington Nationals in the middle test of a three-game set at Miller Park.

Gallardo has gone 2-0 with a 0.86 ERA over his last three starts. He's coming off a victory at Arizona on Thursday. Gallardo is 3-3 with a 6.15 ERA in nine career games (8 starts) against the Nationals.

Jordan Zimmermann will try to avoid a third straight loss when he pitches for the Nationals. The righty hasn't received any run support over the previous two outings, as the Nationals were blanked 1-0 at St. Louis on June 13 and then lost 3-0 versus Atlanta on Thursday.

Zimmermann has never lost to the Brewers in four regular season appearances, going 4-0 with a 2.19 ERA.

On Monday, Adam LaRoche drove in all three Washington runs with a third-inning homer to lead the Nationals to a 3-0 victory.

Jayson Werth finished 3-for-4 with a run scored and Ian Desmond had two hits for the Nationals, who won their third straight game.

Gio Gonzalez (4-4) won his second straight game since coming off the disabled list after giving up just three hits and four walks with five strikeouts over six scoreless innings.

"It's a huge accomplishment coming back, especially with a team like that," Gonzalez said. "I wanted to make a statement."

Ryan Braun doubled and Jonathan Lucroy and Mark Reynolds both singled for Milwaukee, which saw its four-game win streak come to an end after mustering just three hits.

Matt Garza (4-5) was tagged with the loss after giving up three runs on five hits and two walks with seven strikeouts across seven frames. He served up LaRoche's big home run.

"We lost 3-0, it was a slider," Garza said of the homer. "I wish I could take it back."

Washington won four of the seven meetings with Milwaukee last season. The Nationals have won five of their last six games at Miller Park.
