Veteran goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov has joined the Anaheim Ducks for a tryout in hopes of landing an NHL contract.

With John Gibson currently on injured reserve with a lower body injury, backup Jason LaBarbera broke his hand on Saturday and will be out 2-3 weeks.

Bryzgalov was originally drafted by the Ducks in 2000 and started his NHL career with the team a year later.

The 34-year-old Bryzgalov has also had stops in Phoenix, Philadelphia, Edmonton and Minnesota.

Along the same lines, the St. Louis Blues signed Martin Brodeur on Tuesday to back up Jake Allen while Brian Elliott is on injured reserve.
