The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are turning back to Josh McCown under centre.

Mike Glennon, who started the Buccaneers last five games, announced in an interview with WDAE 620 Tampa Bay on Tuesday that he had benched in favour of the Week 1 starter.

McCown started the first three games of the season for Tampa Bay, throwing for 420 yards with two touchdowns and four interceptions. He has not played since suffering a thumb injury in the Buccaneers blowout 56-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

After defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-24 the next week, Glennon was named the starter.

The Buccaneers (1-7) went 1-4 with Glennon starting. He threw for 1,417 yards with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions.

The Buccaneers host the Atlanta Falcons in Week 10. The Falcons (2-6) have not won a game since their Week 3 rout of Tampa Bay.
