Stampeders select Connecticut WR Mayala eighth overall
The Calgary Stampeders announced Monday the team has signed first round draft pick Hergy Mayala, a receiver out of UConn.
The Stampeders selected Mayala eighth overall after four seasons at Connecticut where he put up 1,352 yards and 12 touchdowns on 113 receptions.
The Stampeders also announced they have signed seven other draft picks from their 2019 class: defensive lineman Vincent Desjardins (Laval, second round), offensive lineman Zack Williams (Manitoba, third round), linebacker Fraser Sopik (Western, fourth round), offensive lineman Jaylan Guthrie (Guelph, fourth round), defensive back Nick Statz (Calgary, sixth round), linebacker Job Reinhart (Guelph, seventh round), and receiver Colton Hunchak (York, eighth round).
Fifth-rounder Malcom Lee is the lone unsigned draft pick from 2019.
