John Tavares will not play in Team Canada's pre-tournament game against Austria to rest ahead of the upcoming World Hockey Championship.

Tavares reported to the team in Slovakia on Monday.

In other roster news, Matt Murray and Carter Hart will split goaltending duties against Austria.

Murray will start the game with Hart coming in to play the third period, TSN's Brent Wallace reported.

In other roster news, Team Canada will play 13 forwards and eight defencemen in the tune-up game.

Wallace also reported after practice Tuesday Team Canada head coach Alain Vigneault told players Jonathan Marchessault, Brandon Montour and Tyler Bertuzzi will wear an “A” for the game against Austria. This is the first time for each of the three players getting to represent their country.
