The Montreal Canadiens acquired defenceman Sergei Gonchar from the Dallas Stars on Tuesday in exchange for forward Travis Moen.

Gonchar, 40, has one assist in three games for Dallas this season after missing the first 11 games of the season with a foot injury.

The veteran blueliner will reunite with Canadiens head coach Michel Therrien, whom Gonchar played for in Pittsburgh.

Moen, 32, has appeared in 10 games this season for the Canadiens but posted no points. He was in his sixth season with Montreal, and posted 27 goals and 42 assists in 328 games for the Habs.

Moen began his career with the Chicago Blackhawks and has also played for Anaheim and San Jose over 11 NHL seasons.
