The Vancouver Canucks have placed defenceman Chris Tanev on the injured reserve with an ankle injury and he has returned to Vancouver.

Tanev left last night's game against the Anaheim Ducks in the third period and did not return after colliding awkwardly with Ryan Getzlaf

Jake Virtanen had an MRI and will miss tonight's game against the Los Angeles Kings with an upper-body injury after taking a hit at centre ice from Getzlaf.

With the injuries, forward Nikolay Goldobin draws back into the lineup while defenceman Guillaume Brisebois will make his NHL debut.

Tanev joins an injured list that includes Brandon Sutter (lower-body), Alexander Edler (lower-body), Sven Baertschi (concussion) and Thatcher Demko (knee).
