(SportsNetwork.com) - Marco Gonzales is expected to have plenty of supporters in the crowd for his major league debut Wednesday afternoon when the St. Louis Cardinals conclude a three-game series against the Colorado Rockies.

A former star at Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins, Colorado, Gonzales was a first-round draft pick (19th overall) last year. He was named the Texas League starting pitcher for this year's All-Star Game and was 3-2 with a 2.33 ERA over seven starts at Double-A Springfield.

Gonzales does have ties to the Rockies organization, too. He was drafted by Colorado in the 29th round of the 2010 draft, but chose to play college ball at Gonzaga.

The Cardinals pushed the 22-year-old left-hander into action to replace Jaime Garcia, who is on the disabled list with a shoulder injury.

Christian Bergman was scheduled to start today for the Rockies, but an MRI exam on Tuesday revealed a fractured glove hand. He was hit on his left hand by a line drive in Friday's game against Milwaukee.

Due to the injury, the Rockies recalled Yohan Flande from Triple-A Colorado Springs to make his major league debut. The left-hander will become the 12th different Rockies pitcher to start a game this season. That leads the majors. Flande is 2-9 with a 4.42 ERA in 14 games (13 starts) this season for the Sky Sox.

Justin Morneau homered and drove in a season-high six runs as the Rockies outslugged the Cardinals, 10-5, on Tuesday. Drew Stubbs also homered and Ryan Wheeler had a pair of RBI for Colorado, which snapped a seven-game losing streak.

"He's been great for us," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said of Morneau. "Not just what he does for us but what kind of leader he is. He's having a heck of a season."

Rockies starter Jorge De La Rosa (7-6) grabbed the win after surrendering five runs -- four earned -- on nine hits over seven frames.

Nick Greenwood (1-1) took the loss after relieving starter Shelby Miller, who left after 2 2/3 innings with back tightness.

"Mid-back spasm," Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said of Miller's injury. "We seem pretty confident he'll be ready for his next start."

Greenwood allowed three runs on five hits in 1 2/3 frames in relief.

Jhonny Peralta hit his 11th home run of the season for the Cardinals, who had their three-game winning streak halted and sit 4 1/2 games off the NL Central lead.

Matt Carpenter, Allen Craig and Tony Cruz each had an RBI in the setback.

The Cardinals have won nine of the last 14 meetings with Colorado.
