St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - The St. Louis Cardinals placed right- handed pitcher Matt Belisle on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with right elbow inflammation.

Belisle, 35, heads to the DL second on the Cardinals with 12 holds, going 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA in his 30 appearances this season. The veteran reliever has allowed just one home run in his 30.0 innings pitched while striking out 24.

To replace Belisle on the roster, the Cardinals purchased the contract of right-handed reliever Marcus Hatley from Triple-A Memphis. To make room for Hatley on the team's 40-man roster, reliever Jordan Walden has been transferred from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
