Free agency in the CFL kicked off on Tuesday. Here's everything that happened during quite an eventful Day 1 of the open market.

Als get Loffler

Defensive back Taylor Loffler has signed a two-year deal with the Montreal Alouettes according to TSN's Farhan Lalji. 

He spent the previous three seasons in Winnipeg with the Blue Bombers. 

Argonauts re-sign six

The Toronto Argonauts announced the signing of seven players. National defensive lineman Cam Walker, international defensive lineman Troy Davis, national offensive lineman J'Michael Deane, national offensive lineman Tyler Holmes, national offensive lineman Jamal Campbell, international defensive lineman Frank Beltre and international running back Kelvin Taylor will all be under contract with the Argos in 2019.

Lions bring back Rutley

The BC Lions announce that they have re-signed international running back Brandon Rutley to a one-year deal.

"His dynamic running style in his lone start was exactly what we felt he could bring to our offence. We look forward to seeing him at full speed in training camp and his return will create some significant competition at that position," general manager Ed Hervey said in news release.

Lions make Edwards official

The BC Lions have officially signed international defensive back Chris Edwards to a one-year contract after Farhan Lalji reported earlier that he and the Lions agreed to a deal.

Argos sign trio

It's been a relatively quiet day for the Toronto Argonauts, but the team made a late splash by announcing the signing of three players.

All-Star and international running back Chris Rainey, international defensive back Kevin Fogg and national running back Mercer Timmis are all Toronto bound. 

Rainey arrives with the Argos after having spent the previous four seasons with the BC Lions.

Collaros officially back to the Riders 

Zach Collaros is officially once again a Saskatchewan Roughrider.

The team announced they have re-signed the 30-year-old pivot to a one-year deal. 

He completed 234 of 382 pass attempts (61.3%) for 2,999 yards and nine touchdowns, registering 10 wins in 14 starts. 

Lions get DB Woodman

Oh look! Another signing by the BC Lions.

The team has been one of the most active on the first day of free agency, signing defensive back Josh Woodman.

Lions add another wideout

The Lions keep on making moves. 

According to Farhan Lalji, the team has signed Canadian wideout Josh Stanford to a one-year deal. 

Back to the Riders

It looks like Zach Collaros is heading back to the Riders.

Collaros is close to signing a one-year deal to return to Saskatchewan according to Matthew Scianitti.

He threw for 2,999 yards in his first season with the Riders in 2018 after spending the previous four with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Lions lock up Durant

The Lions continue their eventful day, announcing the signing Canadian wideout Lemar Durant to a one-year deal. 

"Lemar is one the premier Canadian receivers in the league right now and this is a big signing for us today,"  said GM Ed Hervey in a news release. "We want our offence to be dynamic with playmakers at every position and Lemar represents a big upgrade for us."  

Esks add OL Bond

The Eskimos announced the signing of international offensive lineman Travis Bond to a one-year deal.

He was named a CFL All-Star in 2016.

Lokombo to the Als

The Montreal Alouettes have signed Canadian linebacker Bo Lokombo to a two-year deal, the team announced.

Lions make Chungh official

Sukh Chungh is officially a member of the BC Lions after signing a three-year contract. Chungh joins a list of BC free agent additions headlined by quarterback Mike Reilly. 

Eskimos sign Collins Jr.

The Edmonton Eskimos have signed international wide receiver Ricky Collins Jr. to a three-year deal, the team announced. The pact takes him through 2021.

He appeared in 17 games last season with the BC Lions.

Lions get DB Edwards

The BC Lions continue to make a splash in free agency, this time signing former Eskimos defensive back Chris Edwards according to TSN's Farhan Lalji. He will likely play the SAM spot. 

Mitchell gets four years

Bo Levi Mitchell's deal is official and is for four years, the Stampeders announced. 

The deal keeps him with Calgary through 2022.

"It's great to have Bo back for four more years," said Stampeders president and general manager John Hufnagel in a news release. "He had lots of options out there and I'm pleased he's made this commitment to the Stampeders and that he's chosen to continue building on his already-impressive legacy in Calgary."

Posey heading to Montreal

The Montreal Alouettes have signed wide receiver DeVier Posey according to Dave Naylor.

Jefferson to Winnipeg

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announce that they have signed end Willie Jefferson to a one-year deal. 

Jefferson joins the Bombers after spending the last three seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. 

Adeleke to Hamilton

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed national defensive back Tunde Adeleke, the team announced. 

He last spent time with the Calgary Stampeders.

Jennings drawing interest

The Ottawa Redblacks have interest in former BC Lions pivot Jonathon Jennings according to Dave Naylor. He is looking for a significant salary increase, Naylor adds. 

Johnson heading to Saskatchewan

Following Matthew Scianitti's report that Micah Johnson is about to become the highest paid defensive player in the CFL, Dave Naylor tweets that he is in agreement with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Scianitti reports the deal is for one year and will make him the highest paid defensive player in the league.

Levels heading to Montreal

The Montreal Alouettes have signed defensive back Patrick Levels, who last spent time with the Calgary Stampeders according to TSN 690's Joey Alfieri.

Argos turning to Franklin?

With Trevor Harris heading to Edmonton and Bo Levi Mitchell going back to the Stamps, the Toronto Argonauts expect to go to camp with James Franklin as their No. 1 quarterback Dave Naylor reports, adding they would like to add a veteran into the mix as well. 

Johnson about to get paid

According to Matthew Scianitti, defensive lineman Micah Johnson is about the become the highest paid defensive player in the league. That puts him above Adam Bighill's three-year deal worth about $750,000. 

Demski staying in Winnipeg

Bo Levi Mitchell will re-sign with the Calgary Stampeders.

After working out with eight different NFL teams since the end of 2018 CFL season, Mitchell will sign a contract to return to the Stampeders.

Farhan Lalji reports the Edmonton Eskimos have agreed to terms with All-Star DB Anthony Orange, formely of the BC Lions, while the Lions are closing in on a deal with DB Aaron Grymes, formelly of the Eskimos.

 

Mitchell to stay in CFL, decide on team today

Bo Levi Mitchell is staying in the CFL. The only decision left is what team to play for.

Farhan Lalji reported last year's Most Outstanding Player is putting his NFL options behind him and will make a decision on where he'll play in the CFL at some point today. Mitchell's former team, the Calgary Stampeders, as well as the Toronto Argonauts and Saskatchewan Roughriders are in the mix for Mitchell's services.

The Edmonton Eskimos continue to add in free agency, signing another weapon for new QB Trevor Harris in former Calgary Stampeders receiver DaVaris Daniels, per Farhan Lalji.

Esks add another linebacker

The Edmonton Eskimos have added another big free agent, and another linebacker for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. According to 3DownNation's Justin Dunk, the Eskimos have signed cover linebacker Don Unamba.

 

Reilly's replacement

Farhan Lalji reports the Edmonton Eskimos have found their replacement for Mike Reilly.

Lalji reported there are still some technical details to work out, but Harris will be the Eskimos quarterback. He joins former Ottawa Redblacks teammates Greg Ellingson and SirVincent Rogers.

TSN's Matthew Scianitti reported the terms of the deal, two years at $1.1 million.

Eskimos land two more big names

The Edmonton Eskimos have been active in adding free agents after losing QB Mike Reilly to the BC Lions.

Farhan Lalji reports receiver Greg Ellingson and linebacker Jovan Santos-Know have both signed with the Eskimos.

The two signings add to their earlier haul of East Division Most Outstanding Player Larry Dean and CFL All-Star left tackle SirVincent Rogers.

According to a report from 3DownNation.com's Justin Dunk, last year's East Division Most Outstranding Player Larry Dean has agreed to terms with the Edmonton Eskimos. The linebacker spent the first three seasons of his CFL career with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Dean's deal is for one season and $210K, according to TSN's Farhan Lalji.

TSN's Matthew Scianitti reports free agent wide receiver Greg Ellingson could follow Trevor Harris, wherever the quarterback ends up. Scianitti added the two are very close.

Jefferson on the move?

TSN Football Insider Dave Naylor is reporting defensive end Willie Jefferson is not expected to re-sign with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Naylor listed the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Montreal Alouettes, and BC Lions as possible destinations.

The Edmonton Eskimos announced they signed their 2016 first round draft pick, wide receiver Tevaun Smith. Smith has yet to play for the Eskimos because he spent the past two seasons bouncing around the NFL.

The team also announced they signed running back Alex Taylor.

Stampeders keep WRs Rogers, Brescacin, and DL Turner

The Calgary Stampeders announced three re-signings in the hours leading up to free agency.

The Stamps announced the team has re-signed wide receivers Eric Rogers and Juwan Brescacin and DL Junior Turner.

Rogers returned to the Stamps from the NFL last season, finishing with 36 receptions for 499 yards and five touchdowns in nine games.

Brescacin was one of TSN's top national free agents. The 26-year-old had a breakout season for the Calgary Stampeders last season, finishing with 35 receptions for 567 yards and three touchdowns.

The team also announced they have re-signed national defensive lineman Junior Turner. Turner finished with 21 tackles and four sacks in 18 games last season.

Quarterback carousel

With the Edmonton Eskimos set to lose Mike Reilly to the BC Lions, the team could look to replace him with Trevor Harris.

 

Don't forget about Bo

All the talk is surrounding Mike Reilly signing with the BC Lions, but Bo Levi Mitchell also remains a free agent. Calgary Stampeders GM John Hufnagel said Monday the team is confident Mitchell, the reigning Most Outstanding Player, will stay in Calgary.
