SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Chargers agreed to a two-year contract extension with running back Danny Woodhead.

Woodhead signed a two-year contract when he joined the Chargers as an unrestricted free agent from New England in March 2013. His new contract runs through the 2016 season.

"Danny is an integral part of our offence," general manager Tom Telesco said. "His work ethic and on-field production were key elements last year. We look forward to having him be a part of the Chargers organization into the future."

Woodhead is coming off a career year. He had career highs of 76 catches (second on the team), 605 yards and six touchdowns. He ranked first among all running backs in touchdown catches and ranked second in receptions and yards receiving.
