CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Tomas Jurco's second-period goal was the first of five unanswered scores as the Charlotte Checkers rallied past the Toronto Marlies 5-3 on Saturday night in Game 2 of the American Hockey League's Eastern Conference final.

Jurco added two assists as Charlotte tied up the best-of-seven series 1-1 before it shifts to Toronto for Game 3 on Tuesday.

Andrew Poturalski put away the winner for the Checkers, while Nicolas Roy, Jesper Sellgren and Patrick Brown, into an empty net, also scored in the third period.

Alex Nedeljkovic started in net for Charlotte, stopped 9-of-12 shots in 24:52 of work before being pulled in favour of Dustin Tokarski. He turned aside all nine shots he faced in relief.

Jeremy Bracco, Colin Greening and Adam Brooks built a 3-0 lead for the Marlies, the AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, by the 4:52 mark of the second period.

Kasimir Kaskisuo made 20 saves on 24 shots in net for the Marlies.

Neither team scored on the power play. The Checkers were 0 for 2 and Toronto was 0 for 1.
