New York, NY - The National Basketball Association fined Los Angeles Clippers forward Matt Barnes $25,000 for directing inappropriate language toward a fan during Sunday's win over the Phoenix Suns.

The incident occurred midway through the second quarter after Barnes was whistled for an offensive foul.

After Barnes received notice of the fine, he lashed out on Twitter, claiming that his words were directed at the owner of the Suns, Robert Sarver, and not a fan.

This is Barnes' second $25,000 fine this season. He was also punished for kicking a water bottle into the stands and directing foul language at fans in a loss to the Wizards on Dec. 12.

The well-traveled small forward is averaging 9.8 points and 3.6 rebounds in his 12th NBA season.
