Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck begame throwing a football recently for the first time in more than a year, Colts head coach Frank Reich said Tuesday from the NFL's Annual Meeting.

Luck missed all of last season recovering from early-2017 shoulder surgery and there were fears earlier this off-season he could miss more time still. But Tuesday's news is a step in the right direction for the 28-year-old's recovery.

Luck's shoulder has been bothering him since 2015, but Colts owner Jim Irsay said earlier this week at the annual meetings he believes the first overall selection in the 2012 Draft has finally turned a corner.

“All indicators are that healing is going very well and (I) feel really optimistic that he’s turned the corner and has a full decade ahead of him of excellence,” Irsay told reporters Monday.

The Colts are a different team with Luck behind centre. The Stanford product has 19,078 passing yards and 132 touchdowns to 68 interceptions in 70 career games. Without Luck, the Colts finished 4-12 last year.
