There is just over 48 hours to go until Monday's NHL trade deadline and TSN.ca has you covered with all of the news and rumours heading up to the 3pm et cutoff.

Following along with TSN.ca's Countdown to TradeCentre blog.

2:57pm - The Derick Brassard era with the Florida Panthers appears to already be over.

The Athletic's George Richards reports that the 31-year-old centre will not dress for the team this afternoon against the Los Angeles Kings with another trade likely in the offing.

Brassard was acquired last month from the Pittsburgh Penguins as a part of a deal that saw Nick Bjugstad and Jared McCann go the other way.

In 10 games with the Panthers, Brassard had a goal and three assists.

1:35pm - Add the Chicago Blackhawks to the list of teams interested in Dzingel, reports the Ottawa Sun's Bruce Garrioch.

Somewhat shockingly, the 'Hawks are only three points behind a wild-card spot in the wide-open Western Conference.

1:05pm - A day after bidding adieu to Matt Duchene, it could be Ryan Dzingel's turn to exit stage left from the nation's capital.

TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger expects the Ottawa Senators to get a quality return for the 26-year-old winger who has 22 goals and 22 assists this season.

Dreger reports that both the Columbus Blue Jackets and Boston Bruins are interested in the player.

12:00pm - It's supposed to rain in Philly tonight for the outdoor game between the Flyers and Penguins, but the NHL doesn't seem to be worried.

The game is still scheduled to start at 8pm.

12:00pm - Hey, look at that - nobody on waivers.

But, as Pierre LeBrun points out, don't get used to the quiet. Tomorrow could be incredibly busy.

11:18am - More movement with the Ottawa Senators, who are still looking to unload assets.

Rookie defenceman Max Lajoie has been sent down to Belleville of the AHL, opening up a roster spot.

In 56 games this season, Lajoie has seven goals and eight assists.

11:10am - It's not a trade, but it's an addition for the Carolina Hurricanes, nonetheless.

Jordan Staal has been activated from IR. The 32-year-old Staal has missed the last 32 games with a concussion and has not played since December 22.

He is expected to dress against the Dallas Stars later on Saturday.

10:50am - And the Rangers aren't the only team in that game looking to protect their assets.

TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun notes that Devils winger Marcus Johansson will also be a spectator on Saturday with "lots of traction" on the Swedish winger.

In 48 games this season, Johansson has 12 goals and 15 helpers.

10:45am - The New York Rangers are playing it safe with a trio of players who could be moved before Monday.

Forwards Mats Zuccarello and Kevin Hayes, as well as defenceman Adam McQuaid will not be in the lineup on Saturday afternoon in a matinee against the New Jersey Devils.

TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie notes that while nothing might be imminent on any front with the team, general manager Jeff Gorton understands that now is not the time to take any unnecessary risks.

All three veterans are unrestricted free agents at season's end.
