It doesn't look like starter Yu Darvish will be back any time soon.

Cubs pitching coach Jim Hickey said on a Chicago radio station Thursday that Darvish is still "weeks away" from a return as he makes his way back from triceps tendinitis.

He last pitched for the Cubs on May 20 and has incurred stops and starts in his rehab as he tries to make his way back.

"Our hope is that after the [All-Star] break, he can ramp it up. I have no reason to be pessimistic," said Cubs general manager Jed Hoyer said over the weekend.

"There was a lot of pain in [Los Angeles] before going on the DL," Darvish said Saturday through an interpreter. "There's a little bit of scariness that's left in my mind."

It hasn't been the kind of season the Northsiders had in mind when they inked Darvish to a six-year, $126 million deal in the off-season.

In eight starts, Darvish is 1-3 with an ERA of almost 5.00 and the highest WHIP of his career at 1.42. He has thrown 200 or more innings just once in his five-year career.

The Cubs sit at 55-38 entering play Thursday, 2.5 games ahead of the second-place Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Central. They will continue their series with the St. Louis Cardinals over the weekend at Wrigley Field.
