Vekic through to final at rain-ravaged Nottingham Open
Former champion Donna Vekic defeated Tatjana Maria 5-7, 6-0, 6-0 in her first completed grass-court match of the week to advance to the Nottingham Cup final.

NOTTINGHAM, England — Former champion Donna Vekic defeated Tatjana Maria 5-7, 6-0, 6-0 in her first completed grass-court match of the week to advance to the Nottingham Cup final.
The second-seeded Vekic was forced to deal with an untimely delay as rain fell for the fifth consecutive day on Saturday. After dropping the opening set, the 2017 winner bounced back in the next two before rain forced her to wait with the score at 5-7, 6-0, 5-0.
Vekic won the next point for to clinch a final date against American Jennifer Brady or the top-seeded Caroline Garcia. Their semifinal was marred by multiple rain delays before organizers finally postponed the rest till Sunday with Garcia leading 4-6, 6-3, 4-3.
Brady had won all three of their meetings this year.
Rain had already ravaged play at the grass-court tournament. The opening two days were completely washed out before organizers decided to switch the first and second round matches indoors, and Vekic's quarterfinal against Kristina Mladenovic started on grass but had to be completed indoors on Friday.
