The Los Angeles Kings and star defenceman Drew Doughty are in talks for a contract extension, but an agreement has yet to be reached, according to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun.

"We have been in discussions this week, but certainly not done yet," Kings general manager Rob Blake told LeBrun via text message.

Doughty had a solid 2017-18 season with the Kings. The London, Ont., native recorded 10 goals and 60 points in a full 82-game season.

The 28-year old was selected second-overall by the Kings in 2008. Doughty has played 770 games, recording 320 assists and 102 goals. He has spent the entirety of his 10 year career with the Kings, solidifying his position as one of the league’s top defencemen.

He has one more year on his current contract, with a $7 million average annual value.
