FORT MYERS, Fla. - Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Nate Allen says he's co-operating with police in Fort Myers, Florida, after being detained for nearly five hours over the holiday weekend.
Police confirmed in a news release that Allen was pulled over around 5 p.m. Monday. No charges were filed, and Allen was eventually released.
Allen, who lives in southwest Florida in the off-season, told The News-Press on Tuesday that he spent several hours in a holding cell before detectives informed him that a 16-year-old girl had accused him of performing a lewd act at a stoplight.
Allen denies the accusation, saying he was on a cellphone call from the time he left a nearby Red Lobster restaurant until he was stopped.
Allen says he can't understand why someone would make such an accusation.
