The Calgary Flames have re-signed defenceman Brett Kulak after an arbitrator awarded him a one-year, $900,000 deal, the club announced Wednesday.

Kulak cleared waivers last week before the two sides had their arbitration hearing on Monday.

The 24-year-old appeared in 71 games last season for the Flames, scoring two goals and adding six assists with a minus-3 rating.

Kulak is coming off a one-year deal that carried a cap hit of $650,000.

The Edmonton native was selected in the fourth round (105th overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
