The lowest seed in the European League Championship Series Spring Split playoffs lives to fight another day.

With a 3-1 series sweep over third-place Team Vitality, Fnatic moves on to face top-seed G2 Esports in the semifinals.

Fnatic surprised everyone, including their favoured opponents, in Game 1 with a dominant shutout victory. AD carry Martin "Rekkles" Larsson went 4/0/6 on Ezreal to lead his team to an 11-0 kill score, four dragons and more than 16K in gold advantage before the Nexus went down.

Fnatic and Rekkles decided to crank it up a notch in Game 2 and the result was even more convincing. Rekkles went 6/0/8 on Sivir to remain without a death in the best-of-five series and Fnatic cruised to victory without relinquishing a single tower.

Fabian "Febiven" Diepstraten dominated the mid lane opposite Erlend "Nukeduck" Våtevik Holm in the first two games. Febiven went 3/0/2 with 435 CS on Kassadin in Game 1 and 5/1/7 with 319 CS on Lissandra in Game 2.

In Game 3, a double kill from Ilyas "Shook" Hartsema lifted Vitality to an early 2-0 kill lead before the 10-minute mark. Shook went 3/0/10 on Elise to lead his club to a 15-2 kill score, a 12.7K gold advantage and a victory to stave off elimination.

Vitality was strong once again early in Game 4 and the teams went back and fourth until Fnatic captured the Baron just before the 30-minute mark. As Vitality tried to counter with a dragon, Fnatic ambushed the jungle to take three kills and the advantage.

With an ace in the 34th minute, Fnatic pushed into enemy territory and took down the Nexus to win the series.

Febiven went 13/5/16 in the four games and was named series MVP.
