LAVAL, Que. — Byron Froese's goal in the second period stood as the winner as the Laval Rocket held on for a 2-1 win over the Belleville Senators on Wednesday in American Hockey League play.

Karl Alzner opened scoring for Laval (8-12-2), the AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens, at the 8:36 mark of the first period. Charlie Lindgren made 20 saves for the win.

Logan Brown was the lone scorer for Belleville (9-11-1), the minor league club for the Ottawa Senators, and Filip Gustavsson stopped 19 shots in net.

The Rocket went 0 for 3 on the power play and Belleville was 1 for 4 with the man advantage.
