NEW YORK — Johnny Gaudreau has been named the NHL's first star for the month of January.

The Calgary Flames winger scored eight goals and added 10 assists for 18 points in 11 games, propelling his team to a 9-1-1 record and into first place in the Western Conference.

The league's second star in December, Gaudreau recorded at least a point in all but one appearance last month.

Islanders goalie Robin Lehner was named the second star after going 6-1-1 with a 1.73 goals-against average, a .935 save percentage and one shutout in eight appearances to lift the Islanders into the Metropolitan Division's top spot.

Chicago Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane grabbed the third star with an NHL-best 14 assists and 21 points in 10 games.

And Philadelphia Flyers goalie Carter was named the league's rookie of the month for January after going 6-2-1 with a 2.33 GAA and .931 save percentage in nine appearances.
