WASHINGTON - The San Francisco Giants have designated post-season star Travis Ishikawa for assignment. The team also activated pitcher Jake Peavy from the disabled list and placed right-hander Tim Hudson on the DL with an injured shoulder.

Ishikawa's game-ending home run in Game 5 of the NLCS last October carried San Francisco into the World Series.

The 31-year-old first baseman had just five at-bats this season. He was replaced by 28-year-old utility man Ryan Lollis, who was hitting .353 with San Jose of the Pacific Coast League. Lollis has yet to play in the majors.

The 34-year-old Peavy is to start Friday night at Washington. He is 0-2 with a 9.39 ERA. The 39-year-old Hudson is 5-7 with a 4.68 ERA.

Peavy beat the Nationals in Game 2 of the 2014 NL Division Series, holding them to two hits and no runs in 5-2/3 innings.
