BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Stephen Gionta had the eventual winner as the Bridgeport Sound Tigers held on for a 2-1 win over the Laval Rocket on Wednesday in American Hockey League play.

Kieffer Bellows had the other goal for Bridgeport (42-23-9), while Christopher Gibson made 31 saves for the win.

Alex Kile replied for Laval (29-33-12), the AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens. Michael McNiven stopped 18 shots in net.

Neither team scored on the power play. The Sound Tigers went 0 for 4 and the Rocket were 0 for 6.
