The Vegas Golden Knights are the frontrunners for unrestricted free agent defenceman Nick Holden, according to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun.

The 31-year old scored 4 goals and added 13 assists over 73 games split between the New York Rangers and Boston Bruins. He also added an assist during the Bruins’ post-season run against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Rangers traded Holden to the Bruins in late February in exchange for Rob O’Gara and a third-round pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.

The 6’4 defenseman started his NHL career as an undrafted free agent with the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2010. Since then, Holden has played for the Colorado Avalanche, Rangers and the Bruins. Throughout his seven-year tenure in the NHL, he has registered 36 goals, 76 assists and 112 points over 374 career games. He’s also recorded 5 goals and 4 assists in 20 playoff appearances between Boston, New York and Colorado.

Holden is finishing off a three-year, $4.95 million contract.
