The Chicago Blackhawks and Carolina Hurricanes completed a multi-player trade on Friday.

This marks the second time that the Blackhawks have traded Kris Versteeg.

Originally drafted by the Boston Bruins in the fifth round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Versteeg made his NHL debut with the Blackhawks in 2007-2008. He would play in 170 games over three seasons with the Blackhawks, getting a Calder Trophy nomination for his first full season in 2009 and winning the 2010 Stanley Cup before being traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs that summer.

The 29-year-old native of Lethbridge, Alberta returned to the Blackhawks in November of 2013 in a trade with the Florida Panthers. In 61 games with the Blackhawks last season, Versteeg notched 14 goals and added 20 assists. He appeared in 12 games in the postseason, scoring a goal and an assist, in helping the 'Hawks win the Stanley Cup.

“Kris is a skilled forward who has won a pair of Cups with the Blackhawks and can provide veteran leadership in our room,” said Hurricanes general manager Ron Francis in a release. “Joakim is a solid, 200-foot player who can kill penalties. This gives us more options up front for this season, while also now giving us 10 picks in the first three rounds over the next two drafts.”

Over his eight-year career, Versteeg has also played for the Philadelphia Flyers.

Nordstrom, 23, was taken in the third round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Blackhawks and made his NHL debut in 2013-14. Last season, he appeared in 38 games and contributing three assists. The native of Tyreso, Sweden played in three playoff games during the 'Hawks' Cup run.

A native of Fort St. John, British Columbia, the 24-year-old Robertson originally was taken in the sixth round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Leafs. A defenceman, Robertson spent four years at Brown and made his professional debut in 2014 with the Hurricanes' AHL-affiliate Charlotte Checkers. In his first full season with the Checkers last year, he scored three goals and added 17 assists in 57 games.

Massie, 18, was drafted in the fifth round of this past summer's NHL draft out of Omaha of the United States Junior Hockey League.

The Blackhawks will also receive a fifth-round pick in 2017.
