NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Adam Henrique proved that being in the right place at the right time can make all the difference.

Henrique forced overtime with a goal, then scored 1:54 into the extra period on the power play as the New Jersey Devils beat the Predators 5-4 Thursday night, snapping Nashville's five-game winning streak.

Henrique's wrister with 39.7 seconds tied it, and his 22nd goal this season 12 seconds after Nashville took a delay of game penalty led the Devils to their first win in four games.

"On both of them, guys made great plays there," Henrique said. "Just find the rebound, all you can think of is you just pray that he is not going to stick his glove out there and stop that one. It was a huge win for us."

Travis Zajac also scored in the third and had an assist on the game-winner, Kyle Palmieri had a power-play goal and two assists, and Devante Smith-Pelly also had a goal and an assist in his New Jersey debut.

Filip Forsberg had a goal and two assists, and Craig Smith and Mike Ribeiro each scored power-play goals and added assists. The Predators set a franchise record with a point in their 11th straight game (7-0-4).

"It's been a great stretch," Predators centre Mike Fisher said. "It's disappointing tonight to lose that way. It wasn't our best, but we've just got to regroup and have a good game in a couple nights and forget about this one and just keep rolling here, keep our confidence high and forget about it."

Forsberg, who scored 12 goals in February and had two natural hat tricks within three games last week, put Nashville up 4-3 with his wrister with 2:04 remaining in regulation.

But Henrique got the Devils to overtime. When Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne came out into the slot to cover up the puck, he was called for delay of game at 1:42 of overtime. Rinne saved John Moore's shot, but Zajac kept the puck alive for Henrique who scored on a wrister.

"You could feel it," Devils coach John Hynes said of the comeback. "A lot of times in those games, you can feel it on the bench and with your team that guys felt good tonight, felt good about how we played, and it was nice we were able to tie it up and find a way to win."

Fisher skated in his 1,000th career NHL game, becoming the ninth player drafted in 1998 to play in that many games. This was his 325th game with Nashville after playing 675 with Ottawa, and fans gave him a standing ovation during a timeout early in the first period.

Nashville captain Shea Weber also became the franchise leader in power-play points with his assist on Smith's goal, giving him 183 on the man advantage.

But it was the Devils who got to celebrate to start a two-game road trip with Keith Kinkaid in net to save Cory Schneider for Dallas on Friday night.

"It's a tough way to lose a game like where they had the extra attacker and the power play in overtime," Nashville coach Peter Laviolette said.

Weber slid a nice cross-ice pass over to Smith, who scored on a snap shot from the left circle at 8:48 for his 16th this season on the power play. The Devils tied it off their own man advantage when Palmieri's wrister off a rebound of Jacob Josefson's shot beat Rinne at 16:00.

After Moore held James Neal, the Predators took a 2-1 lead less than 30 seconds later. Forsberg dropped a no-look pass to Roman Josi, and Ribeiro tipped the puck past Kinkaid at 17:13.

Gaustad put Nashville up 3-1 with a backhander 2:39 into the second for just his second goal this season. The Devils pulled within a goal at 3-2 at 7:23 when Smith-Pelly reached in and tapped the puck past Rinne off a shot by Jon Merrill. Nashville lost its challenge of goaltender interference on the goal.
