Calgary Flames

Gulutzan doesn't believe motivation is an issue for the chasing Flames

Winless against the Oilers this season, Glen Gulutzan doesn't believe motivation is an issue in the dressing room as everyone understands what they are fighting for.

Matthew Tkachuk sat out Monday's practice for a 'maintenance day' after leaving Sunday's game against the New York Islanders in the third period with an apparent head injury. On Tuesday, the 20-year-old was absent from the Flames' optional skate as the team prepares for a clash against the Edmonton Oilers. Sean Monahan also missed the optional skate. - Jermain Franklin, TSN

After practice, head coach Glen Gulutzan confirmed Tkachuk will miss Tuesday's game against the Oilers with an upper-body injury and will be replaced by Chris Stewart. Monahan will be in the lineup. - Jermain Franklin, TSN

The 21-year-old previously skated on his own, but never with the team during practice. "I thought he looked really good. A tough practice, some contact, we'll re-evaluate tomorrow and take it day-to-day," head coach Phil Housley said after practice. - Team Tweet

Forward J.T. Miller, who was acquired from the New York Rangers at the Trade Deadline, was skating with stars Steven Stamkos and Nikita Kucherov on the Lightning's top line at practice on Tuesday.
