Winnipeg Jets forward Mark Scheifele is doubtful for Thursday's clash against the New Jersey Devils, but the injury he suffered Tuesday against the New York Rangers does not appear to be serious, according to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger.

Dreger adds that an official update from the Jets should come on Thursday.

The original incident occurred in the opening period when Scheifele and fellow Jets forward Blake Wheeler collided. Both Wheeler (leg) and Scheifele (right shoulder) appeared to be in pain, but both stayed in the game.

Scheifele was forced to leave late in the second period after taking hits from Rangers defenceman Rob O'Gara and Marc Staal

Head coach Paul Maurice wasn't able to provide a major update to the injury following the game, but said it wasn't related to the upper-body injury that knocked him out for 16 games earlier this season.

The 24-year-old has 21 goals and 30 assists over 49 games this season, his seventh in Winnipeg.
