LONDON, Ont. - The London Knights have acquired the rights to Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Sonny Milano from the Flint Firebirds in exchange for a draft pick.

The initial price is a conditional 15th-round pick in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection but that jumps to a fourth-round pick in 2016 and second-round pick in 2019 if Milano plays for the Knights in one regular season or playoff game.

The 19-year-old winger is currently playing for the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL after helping the U.S. to a bronze medal at the world juniors.

It was Milano's second trip to the world juniors. He also helped Team USA win gold at the under-18 world championships in 2014.

The Blue Jackets assigned Milano to Lake Erie in September. He has four goals and seven assists in 22 games with the Monsters.

A native of Massapequa, N.Y., Milano was taken 16th overall by Columbus in the 2014 NHL draft. Because he was drafted prior to appearing in the OHL, he is able to play in the AHL.

Milano played for the Plymouth Whalers last season, registering 22 goals and 68 points in 50 games. Prior to playing in the OHL, he spent two season with the U.S. National Development Team.

The six-foot-one 205-pounder chose the Whalers over Boston College.

The Knights (27-6-2-1) were second in the Western Conference's Midwest Division going into play Thursday. Only the Erie Otters (32-4-1-0) had a better record in the league.

Flint (14-18-2-2) was last in the West Division.

The Knights and Firebirds meet Friday in London.
