The Boston Celtics announced on Saturday that All-Star Kyrie Irving underwent a "minimally-invasive" procedure to remove a tension wire from his left knee. The wire was there from a previous surgery during the 2015 NBA Finals

The procedure was done to relieve tension on Irving's patellar tendon. The team noted that Irving's knee was structurally sound.

The Celtics the 26-year-old point guard is expected to resume basketball activities in three to six weeks. The Celtics' last regular season game is on April 11.

Irving has been out for the last four games with the injury.

In 60 games this season, Irving is averaging 24.4 points, 5.1 assists and 3.8 boards with a .491 field-goal percentage over 32.2 minutes a night.
